Another Successful Ludum Dare
2013-08-29 by Brady Prigge
I participated in Ludum Dare 27 last weekend. Instead of Flash I went ahead with Game Maker Studio, which is often derided among "real" game developers, but I like for the speed I can get things up and running. For my first ever Game Maker game I decided to play it relatively safe with
a platformer which you can play here. Instead of the "every waking hour must spend coding" approach I took with Sleepwalker, I basically just worked on this game when I felt like it, which resulted in about 20 hours of work instead of 30+. I was pretty surprised how much of the game I got done - this one has music I threw together relatively quickly, some sound effects and 10 quick levels (that last at most 10 seconds each).
I'm actually thinking about refining it a bit and making it more fun and playable so keep an eye out.
